Aircraft Gun Zu 23/2

Aircraft Gun Zu 23/2

The ZU 23/2 was designed to engage against low-flying targets and armored vehicles. The main purpose of this weapon is the direct defense of troops and strategic positions against air attacks, usually carried out by helicopters and low-flying aircraft.

  • ZU 23/2 can be ready to fire from a walking position in 30 seconds, and in emergency situations it can be fired from a cruising position.

  • The weapon is aimed and fired manually with the aid of an optical-mechanical sight, which uses manually entered target data to provide limited automatic aiming. There is also a straight-tube T-3 telescope for use against ground targets such as unarmored or lightly armored vehicles, as well as infantry.

  • Normally, each barrel becomes too hot after firing 100 rounds and is therefore replaced with a spare barrel. Each weapon is normally supplied with two spare barrels as part of its standard equipment.
